Children's day: let's celebrate in Orlando

Destinations 21/03/2022
None

After Three Kings Day, April 30th is the second most anticipated day for Mexican children as they celebrate Children's Day, a unique holiday of its kind, full of excitement, gifts, and lots and lots of fun.

Over the years, and after having turned my career to writing travel experiences around the world, I thought it would be a fun nod to my past self to talk about how I will celebrate next April 30, because, although I am no longer that little girl who liked helium balloons and strawberry candy, I have learned to see life through the eyes of a child and never give up on having fun.

So, without further ado, I tell you my plans for this Children's Day in Orlando, the city where they say dreams come true.

Looking for hotels in Orlando? Know the best place to start the adventure

After a few weeks of planning, I finally found the ideal place that will be the starting point to begin my trip along with the east coast; Park Royal Orlando, an attractive lodging option with an excellent value for money.

The main reason why I chose this Orlando hotel was because of its location in the heart of Kissimmee's commercial area where I will not only have the opportunity to visit the Disney theme parks but also to visit the most famous outlets of this city: Lake Buenavista Factory Stores, Orlando International Premium Outlets and Orlando Vineland Premium Outlets just 12 and 25 minutes away from the hotel, respectively.

I think the first thing I will need is a bigger backpack to pack all the souvenirs I am going to buy at Disney World and maybe I will also need a good sunscreen for my day at the Park Royal Orlando pool and the water parks.

Fun for all ages

Another reason I decided to stay at Park Royal Orlando was for its comfortable and relaxing solarium and pool, which will be perfect for planning my day-to-day itinerary in a comfortable and inspiring environment.

Orlando is a perfect place to do everything I imagined, from greeting the most iconic characters from the movies of my childhood to making magical objects like wands in The Wizarding World of Harry Potter or a lightsaber in Star Wars Galaxy's Edge, without a doubt, a must-stop on this trip.

Is it expensive to travel to Orlando?

The answer to this question leads me to another question; is it worth skimping on memorable moments? No, going to Orlando is not expensive if we compare it to all those unnecessary expenses we accumulate day by day, so next time you better ask yourself, do I need that plastic dinosaur collectible figure?
Probably not acquiring it will lead you to meet in person a 10-foot tall T-Rex at Universal Studios, a great tip, isn't it?

Another great advantage of Park Royal Orlando is the equipment in its rooms, since the Junior Suite, which was the room I chose, has a small kitchenette with kitchenware, a fridge, microwave, and coffee machine in which I can save a little of my budget and prepare a small breakfast before going out to visit the amusement parks.

Disney and Universal, are they the same?

In this regard, there is a general confusion about both brands and amusement parks, but let me go deeper into this issue and solve this doubt as best as possible.

Walt Disney World has 4 theme parks:

-Magic Kingdom: where the Disney castle is located and a good number of attractions for children and adults.
-EPCOT: the park of the emblematic sphere divided into 6 regions that allude to different countries.
-Disney Hollywood Studios: where Star Wars: Galaxy's Edge opened in 2019.
-Disney's Animal Kingdom: park dedicated to animal life and home to the iconic Tree of Life.

It also has two separate water parks which are: Disney's Typhoon Lagoon and Disney Blizzard's Beach.

Universal has 2 parks which are:

-Universal Studios: home of The Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
-Island of Adventures: where you can find attractions inspired by Jurassic Park and also Harry Potter.

Once this doubt is cleared, I think that the only thing left for me to do is to get on the plane and enjoy all those attractions that will take me back to my childhood, because, although I want to know every one of them, the reality is that time may be short arriving at this destination.

Planning, saving and a lot of child spirit is all you need to dare to spend a fun but different children's day, whether you travel with the little ones at home or, like me, you decide to make your dreams come true on your own.
