In 1986, the first edition of International Coastal Cleanup Day was held by Ocean Conservancy (a non-profit organization dedicated to ocean and marine life protection) in response to the excessive use of disposable plastics. This event, now celebrated annually on the third Saturday of September, has become a key for conservation and raising awareness about the negative impact of disposable plastics on marine species such as turtles, fish, and reefs. To date, Ocean Conservancy continues to fight to keep plastic pollution at bay, stating: “Every bottle, every straw, every piece of trash you clean up can lead to a cleaner, healthier ocean”. A brief history of tequila

Tequila is made from blue agave, a succulent plant that grows in the Tequila region of Jalisco, Mexico. The origins of this drink date back to pre-Hispanic times when the Aztecs fermented a beverage called pulque from various species of agave. However, the true predecessor of modern tequila appeared with the arrival of the Spaniards in the 16th century, when the Spanish arrived and introduced distillation techniques, creating a stronger, refined drink from agave.

Over the centuries, tequila production process has been perfected. In the 17th century, the first formal distilleries were established in Jalisco. If you have stayed at our hotels in Mexico you may remember the small amenity bottles containing shampoo, conditioner, and body lotion, well, since 2023, this practice is behind as we replaced these bottles, made of single-use plastic, with dispensers!

But the only thing we did not replace were the high quality products made by the Mayan women's community Muuch Kaab, who as we mentioned before, elaborate their products from melipona bee honey, thanks to which the benefit occurs on both sides; they maintain the self-management of their communities , while we by acquiring their products, spoil our guests with the organic benefits of the honey.
